Fandom: A New Leaf (1971)

Characters Requested: Henrietta Lowell | Graham, Henry Graham

Fandom Promo Post: https://candyheartsex.dreamwidth.org/15846.html?thread=354022#cmt354022

Prompts: I really want something focused around Henry and Henrietta's marriage post-canon. I want to see them working at the university together! Or just domestic life! Anything with them honestly. I adore them, and I want more! I'd also love Henrietta POV of when she realizes that Henry planned to kill her, and why she does what she does. Basically anything involving them I'd be super happy with.

I'm also super obsessed with how Henry continually caretakes her appearance, cutting off tags, brushing off lint, sorting out which way a garment is gone. I think it's both sweet and also makes me go!!! I'd love to see that explored in a smut context, especially with lingerie. I may be the first person to ever want smut for this movie, but I'm valid.

Fandom: Tea and Sympathy - Anderson

Pairings Requested: Tom Lee/Laura Reynolds

Fandom Promo Post: https://candyheartsex.dreamwidth.org/15846.html?thread=354278#cmt354278

Prompts:
I really want to see them interact again post-canon!! I think their relationship could develop into something deeper outside of the school environment -- maybe if they meet again after Tom is done with college? What does Laura do after her divorce? How would they connect after years apart? I really think they could make it -- they have such chemistry, and I'd love to see them more. Also the Candida references in the original play -- if you find a way to keep that going, I would love that. I'd really love to see a happy ending for them!

Alternatively, if you want to write what happened immediately after "Years from now, when you speak of this, and you will, be kind," I would most certainly not be opposed to that at all. I think them sleeping together would be so achingly tender and satisfying after so much build up.

Fandom: Oklahoma! (Rodgers/Hammerstein)

Pairings Requested: Jud Fry/Laurey Williams (Oklahoma! - R/H),
Gertie Cummings/Ali Hakim (Oklahoma! - R/H)

Fandom Promo Post: https://candyheartsex.dreamwidth.org/15846.html?thread=354278#cmt354278

Prompts:
Although Curly and Laurey are sweethearts and are wonderful for each other--I have fallen hopelessly for Jud/Laurey. They never quite understand the other, just keep hurting each other, and it's so delicious to explore. I so badly want an ending where it doesn't quite turn out so tragic for them. I think Laurey and Jud are fascinating both as individuals and in terms of their relationship. Laurey is both longing for intimacy yet frightened of it; Jud desperately needs intimacy but has been cut off from it his entire life. Laurey is scared of him, yet, despite herself, intrigued by him. Jud is a danger to both himself and others, but he’s also so tragic and childish in parts. Laurey uses him for her own gain, and it blows up in her face, which is fascinating to think about. Where Laurey’s dreams are sexual and intense, Jud’s are as simple as wanting to be respected and having his wife hold him. They never come to a point where they understand the other in canon, even in that brilliant confession scene (which I think is the best written scene in the show.) Though I love Curly/Laurey, Jud/Laurey is what haunts me and has me staying up late to obsess over.

In contrast to the heaviness of Jud/Laurey--I want to know more about Gertie Cummings/Ali Hakim! How does she trick him into marrying her? Can he find fulfillment running "papa's store?" Can Gertie, with her smarts, help with that? Could they make the horrific precursor to Walmart in 1900s Oklahoma? Can they find love in their odd situation? Will Gertie ever learn his real name? I first started thinking more seriously about them as a joke, and now I adore them.

Fandom: Fire and Hemlock - Diana Wynne Jones

Pairings Requested: Seb Leroy/Polly Whittacker

I've read this book several times throughout my life, but it was only with the last read that I found my heart aching for Seb. He is the awful older boyfriend in Polly's life, and he sucks real bad--but he's also a kid trapped in a terrible situation doing what he can to survive. Even if that means hurting her. He's a mirror to Tom in a way, except Tom gets to escape and Seb does not. I've been haunted by the quote "Seeing Seb's jeering face, it came to her that Seb had always loved her the way most people bear a grudge," for some months now.

I want something exploring Seb and Polly's relationship, be that as them starting a real romantic relationship or just as ships passing through the night. There's so much horrible and complicated there--I want more. I'd be intrigued if it was an au where Seb does not get trapped the way he does, but I'd also be interested by something canon compliant.

DNWs: No Tom bashing please. It's okay if in the pov of Seb or Polly they hate or don't like him, but no authorial bashing, if that makes sense.

Fandom: The Princess Bride - William Goldman

Pairings Requested: Buttercup/Prince Humperdinck (Princess Bride - Goldman)

This year, a friend of mine convinced me to reread the book version of The Princess Bride--because she had found herself fascinated by Buttercup & Humperdinck's dynamic. I too have become just as fascinated. Goldman skims over the months they spent together, and I long to read the sections he abridged from Morgenstern! I like how they're both pragmatics, in a way, and how they contrast in that. I like how they're both horse people, but in horribly different ways (I'd love to read something where he tries to gift her a horse.) I want to read them having loveless sex that is nevertheless explosive and super hot, even as they're both intellectually elsewhere. For The Good Of The Country sex is always wonderful. I want to read a bad end where Wesley fails, and how Buttercup survives despite that. I think a lot about this line "I wonder if she hunts, though," said Humperdinck. "I don't care so much about personality, just so they're good with a knife." So knifeplay is DEFINITELY on the table as a prompt. I also think forever and always about this.

"I'll never love you."
"I wouldn't want it if I had it."
"Then by all means let us marry."

Fandom: Doctor Who (1963)

Pairings Requested: Vicki Pallister/Steven Taylor (DW 1963), Jamie McCrimmon/Victoria Waterfield (DW 1963)

I started watching All Of Doctor Who with a friend (I'm currently up to season 5!) and I'm enjoying it so much. I've especially fallen for the above pairings!

I'm so sad we didn't get more time with Vicki and Steven (I'm still upset about Vicki's exit!) I love their banter, and how they're both slightly mean with each other in a very good natured way. I would love just more of that. I also think a lot about how Vicki grew up very isolated--and here is this very good-looking boy, a little bit older than her, who she spends every day with for months probably. I think she should get to explore with him, and he should initially put her off, and then get too tempted and fall into it with her. I also think a lot about how Vicki becomes Cressida, and Steven is called Diomedes--and in the play Troilus and Cressida, Cressida is unfaithful to Troilus with Diomedes. I want a different ending to Vicki's final serial so badly! I also think it would be fascinating to have Steven, fed up with the doctor, having seen two women die in front of him, and one get left in a very turbulent time period, yell at the doctor and go no, fuck no, I'm not leaving Vicki, I'm going back for her. I love them. :(

I think Jamie and Victoria are so cute!! I just love how they bounce off of each other. I love how Victoria's first established with almost fairy tale vibes, and then how a lot of season 5 has serials that take influence from classic horror films. I think it would be fun to play with those tropes! I also love how they're almost from the same general time period and location--but not really. I think culture shocks could be fun for them! I also just love how she clings onto him whatever chance she gets.

DNWs: The last serial I finished is The Web Of Fear, so please, no explicit spoilers for anything past that point! I don't know how either Jamie or Victoria leave the show, so I'd like to be unspoiled for that.

Fandom: The Fantasticks - Schmidt/Jones

Characters Requested: El Gallo (The Fantasticks), Luisa (The Fantasticks)Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV)

Pairings Requested: Xander Harris/Buffy Summers

Of all the pairings I could love most on this show, for some reason, it ended up being Xander/Buffy! I love the initial tension between how they're genuinely very good friends with a good rapport and Xander's dumb teenage boyness. I love how later that grows and steadies. I love that moment where Xander is lying in his bed huffing because he got rejected--and then he is the one to go ask Angel for help, even taking a cross with him, because he loves Buffy truly, outside of just a crush, a true love for her. I love the moments when they are dumbass4dumbass. I love how Xander is aware of her capacity for violence almost from the start. I think about how Xander is the one to bring Buffy back over and over again--I'm haunted by this parallel with 2x01 and 2x04 (https://pureanonofficial.tumblr.com/post/715887796367278080/buffy-the-vampire-slayer-2x01-2x04).  I love when Xander makes Buffy laugh with his silly jokes. I want them to dance together, genuinely, without the When She Was Bad stuff! I'm haunted by how the show doesn't ever address what happened in The Pack. I would love to see them address it, especially why it doesn't seem to effect their friendship going forward. (And if you wanted to make it worse--where hyena!Xander goes farther, and then human!Xander has to deal with the guilt of that--I would be extremely down.) I also love them post-canon, with both their partners dead, having to find their place in the world. Maybe learning to co exist in peace together. Maybe not the romance of a lifetime--but something solid, something there. Something they can rely on when the chips are down. And that's what they are to each other.

Fandom: Emily of New Moon - L. M. Montgomery

Pairings Requested: Dean Priest/Emily Byrd Starr (LMM)

Dean and Emily--I am haunted for them forever. I don't think I'll ever be normal about them. I can't get over how they talk and interact together--kindred spirits almost, but separated by their different desires. I love how they're the LMM couple with the most sexual magnetism, how they're the couple where sex is most explicitly mentioned with them (how much Dean thinks about not kissing her, how Emily is warned that the Priests have twins, the intensity between them always). I want something different for them than canon. I think a lot about how Emily could possibly live in the house they built together without being constantly reminded of him--Teddy strange and out of place in the world that Dean built for her. I think about Emily living in Montreal, hating it, longing for home--the home DEAN built. I think about how they could have wandered the world together. I think about them having children--Emily's mixed feelings on that, Dean's pride (man with a breeding kink I gotta say--and how they could possibly create a happy home together. I think of Emily's writing, of Dean keeping in contact with her solely through reading her work. I think of what could have happened if Emily hadn't healed fully, if Emily had been disabled, if Dean and Emily at last found an equal ground in that. Dean is shaped so by disability, and so I always wonder if perhaps they could have. I also think about what could have happened if Dean broke his restraint and kissed her in their engagement--would he have won her? Would he have been able to stop at a kiss? Or what if Emily, concerned by his lack of taking liberties, kissed him first? What if they married while she was still uncertain? How long would it take to find happiness? I know they would--but it might take some time.

I adore them utterly and completely.

Fandom: The Fantasticks - Schmidt/Jones

Pairings Requested: El Gallo (The Fantasticks)/Luisa (The Fantasticks)

What I find most fascinating about the show is Luisa and El Gallo's relationship. El Gallo is both the narrator and the villain -- Luisa is young and "incurably insane," in the way young people are, and is fascinated by bandits and the romance that they present. And El Gallo's job is to be the villain that hurts her, and forces her to grow up -- only, only that becomes increasingly distasteful to him as he knows her. She breaks through the mask of the villain to what he is underneath. He is not bad, merely playing a role -- but that role begins to hurt him as well as her. And he kisses her upon the eyes, and tells her he will return, and the story must be played out, and the girl must be left, and the villain must hurt her, but that does not mean it does not hurt him too.

I want anything that involves them interacting more. I think their dynamic is just so utterly compelling, and anything that involves them will interest me.

Some vague ideas I have include El Gallo remembering Luisa as he wanders through other stories. Something about her spoke past the villain facade, past the narrator role, all the way through to the human heart of him. That would leave a mark. Especially since he has her mother’s necklace. I also like the idea of El Gallo sticking around for a while, while Matt wanders, and he and Luisa striking up a romance/friendship. I’d love for the lines between the story and reality to blur a bit, as El Gallo puts the story on hold in order to be with Luisa longer. I’d also love to see them get to wander the world, have a “lovely, real romance,” as they say in Round and Round. Escape the narrative, together! Also anything exploring the vibes of Round and Round could be so fun. The show really has big Labyrinth vibes there, and I think that’s horribly intriguing.

Fandom: Grease - Jacobs & Casey & Farrar

Pairings Requested: Sandy Dumbrowski/Kenickie (Grease - J & C & F)

I know this is an oddball pairing, but I do think they have so much potential. In a way, they're both the most mature of their respective groups, and I like how they're both concerned for the other one's feelings? In the original Broadway script, which is the version I like of the show (not very fond of revisions or the movie) Kenickie says to Rizzo "Come off it, Rizzo. Whattaya tryin' to do, make us think she's like you?" And Sandy says "Do you really believe that? Didn't you see Kenickie's face when he left here?" They notice each other, in an interesting way. Kenickie also seems to be one of the few who doesn't think Sandy would be better if she was like all the other Pink Ladies. The makeover at the end of the show, unsurprisingly, bothers me, especially because Danny quit the track team. I'd love to see Sandy discover she really doesn't want to be Danny's dream girl, and come into her own--and if Kenickie is involved in that, well. He's no good but he's not as bad as Danny. I think there's hope for him yet. I also think about how Kenickie was ready to step up if Rizzo was pregnant--and I think about how Danny might not do the same for Sandy. I'd love to see a marriage of convenience situation with them. I'd love to see them carve out a life together.

DNWs: Please don't set this story in California like the movie did; Grease is a Chicago story through and through!

I created promo fandom posts for my most obscure fandoms, so hopefully they are helpful if you're unfamiliar with them!

Fandom: The Warrender Saga - Mary Burchell

Characters Requested: Any (Gail Rostall, Oliver Bannister, Kate Grayson | Katherine Gray, Carlo Etlinger)

Fandom Promo Post: https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/326270.html?thread=4993150#cmt4993150

Prompts: I'd really love to see endgame Gail/Oliver or Kate/Carlo!! I think Gail and Oliver have such chemistry, and I adore their banter; I'd really love to see them work together more? I'd love to see Gail make the switch to musical theater -- musical theater is my first love, and I think she could really shine there. I'd love to see Oliver perhaps work on a book musical too, not just a revue? I can see him getting into more experimental musicals as well.

Suddenly they were all three talking together and, with Oliver playing on the piano and Tom striking out words and substituting others on his battered piece of paper, they then and there worked out the song which was to capture all London in less than a year’s time.

It was late when Oliver took her home, and they walked hand in hand through the cool autumn night, while the stars seemed to lean out of heaven. And inevitably he kissed her goodnight when he left her.

They're just darling, and I'd love to see them interact more.

For Kate/Carlo, I'm very interested in her actually going on that tour with him!!! I really do think both of them could grow so much; both as artists and human beings. They're both so young and passionate, but Kate is willing to work for her goals, and I think she could teach Carlo to be industrious too. The strange, sexual tension between them is so intriguing, and rare for Burchell -- if you want to explore that as well, I shall not mind. :PI also think something even just post-canon could be interesting -- if you have Kate realize what an ass Van is, I will be very happy. XD

He laughed and, getting up from his chair, came to stand beside her at the piano. For her part, Kate was suddenly strangely excited and very faintly scared, though she was not sure why. She picked out a note or two on the piano and said, ‘I’m just trying to remember how it goes——’ ‘Take it from here.’ He leaned across her so that he was unexpectedly close, and sketched a phrase or two. ‘Yes, I’ve got it!’ She began to play, and all at once that warm, seductive baritone voice was addressing her personally in a melody which had captured the world long before she was born. Good musical discipline made her join in accurately at the right point. But then something she had never before experienced warmed and coloured her voice with a sort of sensuous excitement that was totally alien to Kate Grayson, and entirely in keeping with the infatuated Nedda. She had to respond, she had to let Silvio know that she loved him and, casting all her humdrum life aside, would go with him. The beautifully blended voices soared to a triumphant peak and came to a stop. And at that point Carlo picked her right up in his arms and kissed her several times—laughing, breathless and in some curious way exultant. ‘You see?’ he said, still holding her close against him. ‘That’s how it should be done! You’re learning, my little Kate—you’re learning!’ And, as she disentangled herself from his embrace, she was nearly sure that he was referring to something other than just singing.

Basically -- I love both these pairings very much, so if you write for them, I shall be so pleased!!!

Fandom:
Mairelon The Magician (Patricia Wrede)

Characters Requested: Richard Merrill, Kim Merrill, Elizabeth Wendall

Prompts: I read this book series for the first time this year, and I absolutely fell in love with the characters and the world. I really just want something that explores that, in whatever way you feel is best!

I'd love to see the first few months of Mairelon's guardianship of Kim. How does that shake out?
How do they settle into a groove? How do they adjust to this shift? I'd especially love it if we explored this from Mairelon's perspective as he realizes he has Feelings towards his ward.

I'd love to see Mairelon's perspective in general, from any point in the series. Kim reads him so well, but there's still things she doesn't know, and I'd love to see his take on what's happening!

I also LOVE Mairelon's mother, and I think her as an outsider pov on Mairelon/Kim could be hilarious.

Much angst could be gleaned from this prompt, I suspect. XD

Fandom: Tea and Sympathy - Anderson

Characters Requested: Tom Lee (Tea and Sympathy - Anderson),  Laura Reynolds

Fandom Promo Post: https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/303660.html?thread=4632108#cmt4632108

Prompts: I really want to see them interact again post-canon!!

Alternatively, if you want to write what happened immediately after "Years from now, when you speak of this, and you will, be kind," I would most certainly not be opposed to that at all. I think them sleeping together would be so achingly tender and satisfying after so much build up.

Fandom: Rags - Schwartz/Stein/Strouse

Characters Requested: Any (Rebecca Hershkowitz, David Hershkowitz, Nathan Hershkowitz, Saul (Rags - Schwartz/Stein/Strouse)

Fandom Promo Post: https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/303660.html?thread=4767788#cmt4767788

Prompts: I would love to see anything focused on these characters! Really, go crazy! I'd love to see Rebecca and Nathan fixing their marriage (and Nathan pulling his head out his ass.) Or just Nathan angst as he loses his remaining family because of his own faults. I'd love to see David growing up and into himself (how many grifts could he pull in the future?) I'd love to see Rebecca and Saul figure out a relationship post-canon -- how do they exist in this strange new place of their relationship together? Explorations of their world and how they navigate through it could be so cool too. I'd love see more of the original political themes of the original work intact too. I
love all of the characters I requested so much -- they fascinate me. Anything you'd pick for them, I'd be so happy with!

Pleasant writing, dear Yuletide writer!

Dear Yuletide Writer,

Thank you so much for writing something for me! This is my second Yuletide, and last year was so fun, so I am very excited for this one! I cannot wait to see what you write!

Likes: I love stories with angst, yearning, unrequited pining, earned happy ending, unhealthy relationships (with or without growing into healthy ones), power imbalances, selfish and determined female characters, characters who are too selfless for their own well-being, enemies to lovers, character studies, 5 + 1, angsty smut along the lines of that one tumblr post that goes, “the plot of this smut fic is that character A believes himself abandoned by God,” fairy tale retellings, animal metaphors, soulmate aus, timeloop aus, historical accuracy, loss of innocence, tender face touches, arranged marriage, marriage of convenience, unreliable narrators, people having to make hard choices, and any relationship that could be categorized as “fucked up tender.”

DNWs: Voluntary, self-inflicted amputation, miscarriages, anal sex, character bashing, non-con (I find dub-con to be a fascinating way to explore both characters, but non-con is too far for me) and modern aus.

Snow Queen (2002)

Characters: Kai (Snow Queen)

Fandom Promo Post for more info: https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/281559.html?thread=3889879#cmt3889879

Prompts:

I want to explore how Kai is changed by his experiences. Gerda stays much the same--only a little more vibrant and more herself than before--but Kai had a very different experience than her. I want to see how he adjusts to normal life again, to a world that is ordinary and small, once he has tasted what the Snow Queen could have offered him. He's such a lovely character, and I just want to see how he could deal with that.

I want a fic that explores how Kai changes – and how his relationship with Gerda shifts after canon. Gerda stayed much the same, only more herself, but Kai went through hell and a lot of trauma. What do you do, when you’ve been brought back from fairyland?

I want to see him adjust to ordinary life again, to loving the ordinary things again. I want to see him build a future with Gerda. I want the road to be tough for them, but I want them to make it. I believe in these crazy kids.

Also, if you were so inclined to take this in a more smutty bent – exploring how Kai WAS sort of into how the Snow Queen dominated him, and the guilt and mixed feelings that come with that in relation to Gerda would be interesting. I think there’s potential for good character exploration in Gerda/Kai figuring out dom/sub.

The Fantasticks - Schmidt/Jones

Characters: El Gallo

Fandom Promo Post for more info: https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/281559.html?thread=4041175#cmt4041175

Prompts:

Galatea - Emily Short

Characters: Any

Fandom Promo Post for more info:  https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/281559.html?thread=4076247#cmt4076247

Prompts:

Most of my prompts stem from wanting to see what happens after different endings! I love how the Art Critic and Galatea interact, and I think building upon those endings could be so fun. I refer to the endings by the name given in Emily Short’s cheats and walkthroughs page, so I shall paste that link here for easy reference. https://web.archive.org/web/20180929015031/http://emshort.home.mindspring.com/cheats.htm

-Hug

It's a bit awkward at this angle -- the best you can manage is to put your arm around her at the waist. With a sigh, she steps off the pedestal entirely and into your arms.

No one has ever hugged her before. The certainty makes you want to weep for her. You hold her longer than you should; longer than is honest, considering the ambivalence of your feelings toward her.

"Come on." You disengage at last, but only enough to lead her. She comes with you, still leaning on your shoulder.

You may not be able to mend the world for her -- in fact, you may end by hurting her quite desperately, by failing to be what she needs. But you also can't leave her standing there forever.

Her gown hushes on the pale floor as you turn the corner, back to the main gallery. Sometimes there's no right way to do what needs to be done

I love the soft vibes of this ending. Anything building off this energy would be lovely!

- Exchange of Glances

"Galatea.  Look at me."

Her eyes flicker up and meet yours.  There's a strange blend of emotions in that look -- something akin to cruelty foremost, and under that a hint of fellow-feeling; and something else smoky and elusive, to which you'd be embarrassed to put a name.

With no particular warning, she dips her head and kisses you full on the mouth.

I love the whole weird sexual tension vibes of this route – the way the Art Critic clinically looks at her, like an art piece, until it is something else – something full of tension. I love the fact that there’s bits of uncanny valley to Galatea. I love how the balance shifts between them. I love the way that she initiates – and that it is distinctly not quite kind or human. Exploring this sort of energy between the Art Critic and Galatea, I think, could be quite interesting.

 - Stilton

"Wouldn't you like to try eating sometime?"

Her head lifts; her green gaze holds you half a moment.  You're surprised by the flicker of apprehension in her eyes.  (You'd think you were offering her the apple -- what does that make you, the vile seducer?  Silly thought.)  "I don't know," she says slowly.  "I'm afraid it would make me dependent; that if I began--"

"You'd be mortal like the rest of us," you finish.

"That I'd feel pain more deeply," she corrects.  "That I wouldn't be able to escape; that it would all be more, and worse.  I saw how he suffered.  Who could blame me for not wanting the same?"

There’s something so very much about the Art Critic introducing Galatea to ordinary human processes – especially because he is a bit awkward and unused to humanity as well. I love the vibes of them trying out human things together – and of the themes of the statue choosing to eat, choosing humanity. I think exploring those themes could be fun!

  • Curiosity

"There's a piece by Komininsky in the next room," you volunteer.  "Mingling with the guests.  He, ah, brought her as his date, actually."  You and Mike go way back: you've always been fascinated by his genius for subversion.

"Oh?"  She meets your eyes for a dark moment.  She glances at you and then looks away.

"It means that he can mediate between her and anyone who tries to talk to her.  Being able to control the input gives him an unfair advantage.  Most of the fun is watching them interact with each other, in fact."

"All right,"  she says.  "Enough of this.  I need to see these pieces myself.  I'm bored, and you've persuaded me."

Without waiting for an answer, she gathers her dress in one hand and jumps lightly off the pedestal.

At the corner she stops and looks back at you, tilting her head.  "Well?  Are you going to give me the tour?"

I think there’s something compelling about Galatea taking an interest in other art pieces. How does she react to the gallery? How does the Art Critic feel about this? Does she get an identity crisis? Perhaps, does she even build a life for herself as an Art Critic too?

If you’ve reached the end of my letter, thank you so much for reading! May your Yuletide be great!

Dear Yuletide Writer,

Thank you so much for writing something for me! This is my very first Yuletide, and I’m so excited for it. I can’t wait to see what you write!

Likes: I love stories with angst, yearning, unrequited pining, unhealthy relationships (with or without growing into healthy ones), power imbalances, selfish and determined female characters, characters who are too selfless for their own well-being, enemies to lovers, character studies, 5 + 1, angsty smut along the lines of that one tumblr post that goes, “the plot of this smut fic is that character A believes himself abandoned by God,” fairy tale retellings, animal metaphors, soulmate aus, timeloop aus, historical accuracy, loss of innocence, tender face touches, arranged marriage, marriage of convenience, unreliable narrators, people having to make hard choices, and any relationship that could be categorized as “fucked up tender.”

DNWs: Voluntary, self-inflicted amputation, miscarriages, anal sex, character bashing, non-con (I find dub-con to be a fascinating way to explore both characters, but non-con is too far for me) and modern aus.

Anastasia - Maurette
Characters: Anna Bronin (Anastasia - Maurette)

(Further information about why I love this play in general can be found here at the promo post. https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/254165.html?thread=3041237#cmt3041237)

Anna is one of my favorite characters of all time. Though I have a great deal of fondness for the 1997 animated film Anya, and I create content mostly with the musical Anya, I think the original Anna is just so incredibly compelling and well-written. The ambiguity and complexity of her fascinates me. I love how she uses people, how she’s sharp as a knife, yet still desperately yearning for love. I adore her.

Prompts:

What happened before canon with Serensky? Serensky is honestly one of my favorite Anastasia love interests (and my favorite official one, since Gleb Vaganov is not really one that counts) and I find their love story so compelling. He fell in love before he saw her face! She helped out with his research! They had sex in a field of sunflowers! I’d love to see a more detailed retelling of their relationship and how it grew than what we get in the play itself.

Character study of Anna. I have a deep and abiding love for Anna, and it would be great to get into her head during the course of the show. She doesn’t give much away, openly, so knowing what is going on in there would be lovely to see.

Post-canon! What happens after she leaves her maybe-grandmother? Does she go back to Serensky? Does she travel? Does she, perhaps, write letters that never quite say grandmother but are full of warmth all the same?

The Swan (1956)
Characters: Princess Alexandra (The Swan), Nicholas Agi

(Further information about why I love this movie in general can be found here at the promo post https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/254165.html?thread=3306965#cmt3306965)

This movie breaks me every single time, and I can’t help but hope for a happy ending. Nicholas and Alexandra have such chemistry and I can do nothing but wish things turned out differently, even though I know it goes against the film’s message. I’d love to see a different way the story could have gone.

Prompts:

Pre-canon! Did Nicholas and Alexandra ever have any Moments before the story starts? She seems to notice him looking at her in with Louis Jourdan Yearning Gaze ™ before the plot really starts, and she states she always suspected. What made her suspect?

What really stands out to me about this film is that it takes place just before World War 1, and that has given me so many ideas. The world the characters are in is about to come crumbling down. I have this persistent image in my mind of Alexandra working as a nurse, and meeting Nicholas again on the battlefield. What are they like, years on, when they’re both slightly more mature? How have things shifted?

Canon DNWs: Major Character Death

Oklahoma! - Rodgers/Hammerstein
Characters:
Jud Fry, Laurey Williams

(Further information about this show can be found at the promo post here https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/254165.html?thread=3334869#cmt3334869)

Oh Oklahoma! I did not expect at all to get so into it when I watched the 1943 Restoration production, but alas, I did, and now I’m in hell. And I ship a very rare pairing, to boot.

I have so many plot bunnies and ideas for them I don’t even know how to begin, so I hope these are some inspiration-striking prompts!

Prompts:

Stuck in a place together. The problem with these two idiots is that they never come to an understanding, and are both disinclined to bare their souls to the other. Therefore, they need to be trapped together. In a closet, snowed in together, in a storm cellar (it is Oklahoma after all), whatever! They just need to actually end up Talking at some point.

Character study. Why is Laurey intrigued by Jud despite her fear? Why did Jud fully fall in love with her?

Fake dating. If Laurey used Jud once to annoy Curly, what if she did that more often? What if she got into a (fake on her side, not on his) relationship with him to bother Curly? What would happen when Jud realized he was just a tool to her?

Soulmate au! Soulmate aus are great because you can stuff so much angst and misunderstanding into them. Jud would have always wanted a soulmate, and so did Laurey—but Laurey would never ever want it to be Jud, and it would be really painful for Jud if even his own soulmate didn’t want him.
Canon divergent au! What if Jud did win Laurey’s basket? What if their big argument went just a little differently? What if she tried to tell him outright she didn’t want to go with him? So many possibilities!

Canon DNWs: Please, please don’t base this off of the 2019 revival and its takes on the characters. Any other take is fine, but I really dislike what that revival did with the characters, and so I’d love for it to Not Be That in this fic, if possible. Edit: I'm adding this later, so I understand if you don't want to abide by this, but please, please no Jud/Curly either or poly Jud/Curly/Laurey either.

Dearest Yuletide Writer, thank you for taking the time to read this. Happy writing!
