Fandom: The Secret Garden - Simon/Norman

Relation Requested: Any

Fandom Promo Post: https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/349432.html?thread=5556216#cmt5556216

Prompts: Neville Craven is one of my favorite characters in any media. I desperately want more fic exploring him. He's such an absolutely fascinating character to me. Second son who loves his brother with his whole heart, who has dedicated his life to making sure his brother's son lives--and yet is hiding his own unrequited love for his brother's dead wife, as well as his own hurt and pain at her loss. A man who would never consider stealing the manor and grounds from his brother, but who yet still wishes his brother would give them to him, for he is the one who has actually been taking care of them. A man who would never have taken action to steal his brother's wife, but still wished that she would one day turn and see him standing there. A man who does want the best for his nephew, has honestly been doing his best to make him well, but is also a Victwardian doctor, and so he has fundamentally messed Colin up in many ways. The caretaker who has no one taking care of him. A man who is outwardly very selfless but selfish and needing inside. The way he beefs with Mary is also so funny and fascinating (really nearly threw hands with a 13 year old energy.) He's the Gothic Uncle's Brother trying to prevent Mary from becoming a Gothic Heroine and Colin from becoming a Gothic Character. I adore him.

I would love to see him interact with any of the other characters in the tagset--Archie, Lily, or Mary.

For Neville & Archie prompts, I'm obsessed with their messed up caretaker/mentally ill person relationship. They both love each other so so much, and they've hurt each other so so much because they refuse to communicate properly. I would love something exploring Neville's both mingled resentment and deep love for his brother. He wants the opportunities he never got to have, but he also willingly gave up his whole life for his brother. There is deep, deep love there. I'd love something exploring the hurt he feels that his brother doesn't appreciate how much he does taking care of the estate/manor and Archie's child. I'd love to see them growing closer and finally communicating post-canon. I'd love to see something exploring how Neville grew up always being his caretaker. They fascinate me!

In my opinion, Lily's Eyes is not quite enough to explain why Neville is still pining for his brother's wife ten years after his death. I'd love to know more about what about her got him so bad! Why did he fall in love with her? What was their relationship like? Was she fond of him at all, or was she only kind to him for Archie's sake? I have a firm headcanon that he had to help her during her labor until Colin arrived, and I think he must blame himself in part for her death. He is also in the manor far more than Archie, so he must see her ghost more often than Archie does. How much time does he spend pretending he doesn't see her?

And his relationship with Mary is my favorite in the show. They're so very alike in so many ways--both angry, snarky rude people who just want a place of their own.
If Colin resembles Archie, Mary resembles Neville. Mary gets her bit of earth--Neville doesn't. When he's in her presence, he descends to her level, and she gets in some very good palpable hits on him. The scene where he asks if she wants Colin to die is so powerful! She breaks through his grew-up-too-fast wall to reach to the neglected child underneath. I really want to see them interacting post-canon--can they ease their rocky start?

I would also be extremely interested in them having a romantic relationship once Mary is older. I'm extremely into substitution issues in ships, and Mary growing up to look like Lily, having her eyes, but her own very Marylike stubbornness and rudeness, her bite and determination. She looks like her, but she's not her, and it's very confusing for Neville's poor heart. I could see them really interacting in fascinating ways romantically--it would be messy but so terribly intriguing. He could mention how Colin would be a suitable suitor, and she could sniff and say he doesn't understand anything--and he doesn't.

And as for Neville on his own prompts, him + the estate musings would be very enjoyable for me. He truly loves the estate; he is the person who takes care of it while its master is off traveling the world. He is the one hampered in its upkeep because its master will not sign papers. And for much of the time, it's just him, the servants, Colin, and the house. That's a rather lonely life.

I'm also always down for unsatisfying masturbation. I can see him waking up in the middle of the night, wanting and panting, and then Colin starts screaming, and he has to get up and go, because he always puts other people's needs before his (or thinks he does.) I would love to see him being despairingly horny over Lily, or in the future, fumbling for intimacy with Mary.

Fandom Specific DNWs: Please no romantic Mary/Neville when she is still a child.

Fandom: The Sweet Smell of Success (1957)

Relationships Requested: Any

I am insane about the Hunsecker siblings. How posessive and yet needy J.J. is for Susie—how he is desperate to maintain their relationship even as he manipulates and controls everything in her life. The all encompassing coat he got her! How Susie knows she should hate him, but she can only pity him. How J.J. seems to be unaware of of his incestuous feelings, and Susie is all too aware. I'd love body worship with them—J.J.'s little dearest sister is obviously completely perfect, so he would lavish every inch of her. And I'd love fixation on how big and scary and physical J.J. is from Susie's perspective. I would love for them to both be virgins--I don't think J.J. has ever felt anything like this except for Susie, and I think Susie has never done anything with anyone out of fear that J.J. would somehow know. An exploration of how Susie sleeps in this weirdly small room off of the main living space could be cool! J.J. waxing more on soulmateism like he does in canon would be great. An interesting au could be if Susie isn't brave enough to make that final jump to leave at the end of the movie, and J.J. "has," to wash away the stains he believes are left by Sidney's assault and take her on that cruise.
I also think Sidney/Susan could be interesting in a weird way, if you wanted to go for that. They know each other; he's seen her grow up. She's learned manipulation from him and uses it against him. I could see younger her having a big crush on him that fades as she realizes how rotten he is. I think Sidney/Susan only exists against the backdrop and knowledge of J.J.--the two objects of his twisted desire. Sidney wants to be J.J., and Susan can only laugh, because no one can ever be J.J. She learned how to get out from watching him, and she stepped on his body on the way out.
Fandom: Maltese Falcon - Dashiell Hammett

Rel Requested: Effie Perine/Sam Spade (Hammett)

Prompts: So I was completely upended by Effie/Sam. No one told me Effie/Sam was the real tragic love story in this novel, not Brigid/Sam. They're so weird about each other. He's easy and genuine with her in a way he is with no other woman, and he's actually affectionate with her in a way he is with no one else in the story. He's clearly false to and lying to every other woman in this story--but not her. She pushes him to do good things despite himself. I love how witty and charming and head over heels for her she is, even though he knows he's no damned good (even if she doesn't realize quite how bad he is.) Their banter is delightful, and they just match each other's level.

And I'm in love with the fact that after he betrays Brigid and turns her in, when he goes to Effie for comfort, she shrinks from him. And it's the only thing about the whole damned business that actually seems to upset him. He never thought Effie would turn from him.

Her voice was queer as the expression on her face. "You did that, Sam, to her?"

He nodded. "Your Sam's a detective." He looked sharply at her. He put his arm around her waist, his hand on her hip. "She did kill Miles, angel," he said gently, "offhand, like that." He snapped the fingers of his other hand.

She escaped from his arm as if it had hurt her. "Don't, please, don't touch me," she said brokenly. "I know--I know you're right. You're right. But don't touch me now--not now."

Spade's face became pale as his collar.

This makes me absolutely feral. I'm distinctly not normal about them. I really just want more interactions between them--pre-canon, canon, post-canon, though I'm distinctly partial to musings on whether they could survive this. Is the Maltese Falcon affair something that kills their closeness forever? Does she leave him after this? Does he finally realize how much she means to him? How he had a damned good girl on his side, and he wrecked it? And as for pre-canon, however did they establish their easy physical intimacy that results in things like this, "He put a finger on the tip of Effie Perine's nose and flattened it. He put his hands under her elbows, lifted her straight up, and kissed her chin." He's not this cutely physical with anyone else! I don't get the vibe that they've slept together, so how did it happen that he ends up resting his head on her hip when he's thinking? They're just so very strange, and I really want more of them.

Fandom:
Cat-Eye Willie Claims His Lover - Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer (Song)

Relationship Requested: Cat-Eye Willie/Bonnie Brown

Fandom Promo Post: https://yuletide.dreamwidth.org/349432.html?thread=5554936#cmt5554936

Prompts: I am always down for uneasily erotic works, and this is just so fascinating. I love the filthiness of "Oh Bonnie make the bed that you were born in/Turn your daddy's picture to the wall." I love the trope of women being won in a card game. I love how Cat-Eye Willie seems to be a fae in human shape. I love how both of the characters are assholes in different ways. I love how she kills him with a silver dagger after he has his way with her---and then REQUESTS TO BE BURIED BESIDE HIM? WHAT? What do you MEAN you've served one master true and only?

I really want more interaction between Bonnie Brown and Cat-Eye Willie. Did she merely destroy his mortal shape? Does he haunt her? Is she irrevocably shaped and changed by this night? Is she even still human now? Has he laid his mark on her? How come no one comes to court her after her asshole husband ~mysteriously passes away~? Or how about an AU where she doesn't kill him quite so soon? Or ever? Or, if you want to explore the wedding night and make it fascinatingly dub-con, I would be so down for that. I'd also love it if Cat-Eye Willie could be worked into classic fey lore. I'd also love to see more card game imagery!

Fandom Specific DNWs:
I know Cat-Eye Willie has devil imagery in the original song, but I'd prefer if you lean more on the fey side than the demonic/devil side.

Fandom: The Taxicab - Jacques Brel/Eric Blau/Mort Shuman

Relationships Requested: The Taxicab Driver/She Who Lives On Madonna Street

This song (specifically this English translation of the song) is so compelling to me. I adore the decadent descriptions of She Who Lives On Madonna Street, how The Taxicab Driver seems to be in lust with the house as much as her. I love how it's almost not sexual until the climax of the song. In the original French version, it's clear all the men "here for the gas," are visiting prostitutes. It's interesting that The Taxicab Driver DOESN'T do that--he wants her, it's clear she's seeing clients, but he doesn't bite the bullet and pay for a night. He seems to want to not just be another client. Or perhaps he just feels it would be a betrayal of professionalism to sleep with someone on his route. I think you could definitely explore voyeurism--his description of her body makes me think he's peeked through her window--and I think you could also explore taxicab handjobs. XD

Fandom: Summer - Edith Wharton

Relationships Requested: Charity Royall/Mr. Royall

This book WRECKED me. Such a fascinating tale of lust and summer and making choices in awful situations--but making a choice nevertheless. The moment I keep coming back to the most is when Mr. Royall (whose name we never learn) does indeed convince Charity to marry him, even knowing she's pregnant. Sitting in the chair to show her he will not hurt her! (Such a contrast to him trying to come into her bedroom at the beginning.) Charity getting her jewelry back! Charity's almost animal protection of her child! Driving back to the house with the red door! The interplay and what is left unsaid by these characters is so fascinating to me. The problem with wife husbandry is that you may get You But Feminine. I just am fascinated by how Wharton wrote the continually shifting power dynamics between them, and I'm dying to know what might happen to them after canon. Also, I did not request this, as Charity's child is not a character, but I would love to see exploration of how she would be as a mother. Her instinctive protective nature once she learns she's pregnant feels so in character for her, and I can see her being a dangerous wolf of a mother.

Fandom: The Princess Bride (William Goldman

Relationships Requested: Buttercup/Prince Humperdinck (Princess Bride - William Goldman)

friend of mine convinced me to reread the book version of The Princess Bride--because she had found herself fascinated by Buttercup & Humperdinck's dynamic. I too have become just as fascinated. Goldman skims over the months they spent together, and I long to read the sections he abridged from Morgenstern! I like how they're both pragmatics, in a way, and how they contrast in that. I like how they're both horse people, but in horribly different ways (I'd love to read something where he tries to gift her a horse.) I want to read them having loveless sex that is nevertheless explosive and super hot, even as they're both intellectually elsewhere. For The Good Of The Country sex is always wonderful. I want to read a bad end where Wesley fails, and how Buttercup survives despite that. I think a lot about this line "I wonder if she hunts, though," said Humperdinck. "I don't care so much about personality, just so they're good with a knife." So knifeplay is DEFINITELY on the table as a prompt. I also think forever and always about this. "I'll never love you." "I wouldn't want it if I had it." "Then by all means let us marry."

Fandom: 42nd Street - Bramble/Stewart

Relationships Requested: Peggy Sawyer/Julian Marsh

This is such a strange show. Because most of it is a love letter to those pretty plotless 1930s musicals!! The thinnest plot -- mostly just an excuse for dance numbers. But then you have Peggy and Julian. And it would be so easy to have Peggy end up with Billy--the pretty boy tenor she dances with and actually DOES end up with in the movie. But instead you have Bright beautiful sparkly dance scene--SUDDEN INTENSE TENSION BETWEEN THE LEAD AND THE DIRECTOR THAT NEVER GETS FULLY RESOLVED. Where he kisses her for the show and then kisses her later for real and for good luck but then is afraid to act on it. Because she is bright and shiny and new and he is jaded and bitter. And he doesn't want to ruin that! But she wants him to ruin her. on with Peggy and Julian. In the first staging I saw she tries to kiss him in their ending scene, and he pulls back so she can't. Because he KNOWS she is meant to shine bright!! Not throw herself away on someone like him. And it's COMPLICATED, and he kisses her in the flush and excitement of opening night, and for a moment he thinks--and she thinks--but he comes back to himself, and he KNOWS he can't. And it is so refreshingly handled and interesting and nuanced. I don't think Peggy would give up on getting her man. Julian may try to slow her down, but in Allentown, they don't give up that easy. I can see her working him over at the opening night party. I can also see it taking years--musical styles change, Peggy adapts, Julian doesn't. Yet despite him being all washed up, he's still the only man she really wants. I also would love silly stuff where he finds more excuses to kiss her "for the good of the show." They're really darling, and I'm very fond of them.

Fandom: Emily of New Moon - L. M. Montgomery

Pairings Requested: Dean Priest/Emily Byrd Starr (LMM)

Dean and Emily--I am haunted for them forever. I don't think I'll ever be normal about them. I can't get over how they talk and interact together--kindred spirits almost, but separated by their different desires. I love how they're the LMM couple with the most sexual magnetism, how they're the couple where sex is most explicitly mentioned with them (how much Dean thinks about not kissing her, how Emily is warned that the Priests have twins, the intensity between them always). I want something different for them than canon. I think a lot about how Emily could possibly live in the house they built together without being constantly reminded of him--Teddy strange and out of place in the world that Dean built for her. I think about Emily living in Montreal, hating it, longing for home--the home DEAN built. I think about how they could have wandered the world together. I think about them having children--Emily's mixed feelings on that, Dean's pride (man with a breeding kink I gotta say--and how they could possibly create a happy home together. I think of Emily's writing, of Dean keeping in contact with her solely through reading her work. I think of what could have happened if Emily hadn't healed fully, if Emily had been disabled, if Dean and Emily at last found an equal ground in that. Dean is shaped so by disability, and so I always wonder if perhaps they could have. I also think about what could have happened if Dean broke his restraint and kissed her in their engagement--would he have won her? Would he have been able to stop at a kiss? Or what if Emily, concerned by his lack of taking liberties, kissed him first? What if they married while she was still uncertain? How long would it take to find happiness? I know they would--but it might take some time.

I adore them utterly and completely.

Fandom:  どうぶつの森 | Animal Crossing Series

Pairings Requested: Shizue | Isabelle/Tanukichi | Tom Nook

I've been playing New Leaf for the first time, and I've been really charmed by the thought of Isabelle/Tom Nook. This bright, cheery young woman who works far too hard, and this jaded, older man who is finally at a point in life where he feels comfortable. I've been struck by how Tom Nook closes up shop at a reasonable hour, and Isabelle is always there when the Mayor needs her. I can see him being unable to sleep one night, and realizing the lights are still on in Town Hall. I can see him encouraging her to actually SLEEP and maybe walking her home? I just think they could be so cute together.

Fandom-Specific DNWs: I would prefer the setting to be more New Leaf than New Horizons, as I have not played New Horizons.
